1. The program for replacing SIGTOTS with the new HW-19A configura-
tion is now complete in the Langley Signal Center. A total of eight of
these units are now in operation.

requests consisting of five hundred and thirty-one (531) line items
have been processed.

lems were isolated to the Telephone Company ~+3A carrier system. Two
filters were changed to provide greater tone separation of the ~+1GC1+91
channel. New style arc suppressors were installed in the Northern Key-
ing Relay Circuits to reduce distortion.
The circuit from OCI Watch Office to the White House and the cir-
cuit from ORR (Langley) to 1019 Alcott Hall were tested and activated
during this reporting period.

The KY-5 is in daily operation on a "phone to phone" basis.- The
Kellogg switchboard is not in use due to the lack of modification in-
structions from NSA.
D. Very-Nigh-Frequency
Normal, coverage was provided during the month of August.
REHAB. SHQP
A. Fabrication of a tape factory was ccxi~pleted and shipped to 25X1 A6a
the field.

B. Two HW-19A configurations were fabricated, tested and delivered to the
P eki and Crating section for shipment to the field to fulfill- 25X1A

tion has been pre-wired for use with the Bell System TWX machines.
The installation will be made upon receipt of the new style HW-19A
racks.
F. Processed 2 incoming vouchers totaling 103 items.

G. Mechanical Maintenance Section - Routine
WIRE MAINT~!,NANCE SECTIOIQ
A. Section Activities
1. Two Model-28 ASR's have been rewired in accordance with HW-19A
s-fandards for two half-duplex circuits to Logistics, $uarters Eye.
The HW-19A reek was wired and will be installed as position six in
the Washington-Terminal outgoing section (Langley).
2. The Replacement Program for changing Sigtot to HW-19A operation
continues this month with the remaining two HW-lg racks completed.
The ASR equipment will be rewired and converted to single shaft op-
eration.
3. A storel Model-55B was repaired and returned from
_ and installed in the Control Console. One test pattern distor-
tion generator was shipped - for repair.

5. Variable speed kits were installed on two Model-28 KSR's roll-
ervunds. This equipment is used to set up the KW-26 circuits. This
versatility from 60 W.P.M. to lO0 W.P.M. allowed the removal of one
KSR unit.

6. A test panel was installed on the rear of the Control Console to
test the circuit selection ste pers. A total of twenty (20) test
points were installed, ten (10~ for Unclassified, and ten (10) for
Classified circuits.
7. The circuit selection panels, both Classified and Unclassified,
were checked out with respect to the Console Model-28 KSR's, the test
pattern generator, and the distortion analyzer on all aend and receive
circuits.
8. Seven Series governed motors on Model-2$ KSR equipment were re-
placed with synchronous type This replacement will re-
duce maintenance considerably,
9. Two Model-28 K'I'R's were installed to facilitate the
maintenance of the microwave system. One unit was installed in the
Radio Control room and one in the Microwave Building.
B . F~nergency Power
Both diesels were run under load for a period of thirteen hours.
Daily, weekly and monthly routine maintenance was completed totaling
one hundred and forty-five (1~+5) man hours.
2. 30 KW Generator
a. This unit ran a total of fifteen hours under load. A total
of $0 man hours was expended on routine maintenance and repair.
b. No mayor or minor repairs required during this reporting
period,
C. Trouble Reports
A total of three hundred and ninety-eight (398) troubles were re-
ported and corrected from the following areas:
