It turned out to be a long drawn out affair, requiring approximately three years from start to finish. Nerves and tempers of all inter- ested parties became a little frayed at times, but it was all worth it. We now have a first class facility, second to none, and it has already started to produce results. Invitations to bid on the construction of the Environmental Test Building for the Laboratory have been advertised and construc- tion should start soon. The target date for the completion of the building is May 15. The equipment will be arriving at approximately the same time and if everything goes well this facility will be completed by mid-summer. Messrs. visited Fort Monmouth on 26 February. Mr. ~~~!Directorj Transmission Facilities and several of his assistants were told of our plan for a replacement set for the AN/GRC-109 and shown samples of and given verbal informa- tion on the RS-49, RR-44 and the 08-8 frequency synthesizer. The latter item was of great interest to them.
