7. Project Status:
The purpose of this meeting was to establish a contract between
25X1A5a1' , for the manufacture of the electronics to be used in
_ the CK-30. This had not been done earlier because sufficient details 25X1A5a1
were not available for - to give M a satisfactory quotation.
25X1A5a1 The essential problem seems to be lack of communication between _ 25X1A5a1
- 25X1 A5a1 engineers and the - Lab Manager. Both parties have agreed to
eliminate this communications problem by having their respective project
engineers communicate directly. When necessary, will communicate
directly with the COTR in Washington, D. C. 25X1A5a1

circuitry as proposed to us by MM. Mr. has been endeavoring 25X1A5a1
to reduce this extra cost and has been partially successful. It now

occurred when we agreed to the use of a capacitor coupled output
circuit vice the standard transformer coupling. Thin film engineers
dislike transformers. Our Lab checked the capacitor circuit for
compatibility using an =breadboard and the results were satisfactor 2.5X1A5a1

Much of the block layout'of the CK-30 has been completed and it
appears that each unit will utilize 18 integrated circuits in conjunction
with the thin film technique. =had not supplied adequate information 25X1A5a1
regarding tape head output and solenoid drive current requirements;
however, these are details which can be supplied a ,little later in the
25X1A5a1 program. Mr. each signed a letter of intent and
this program is finally underway. Delivery of the first electronic
modules is scheduled 12 weeks from the date of initiation. This
indicates that the CK-30 program is two months behind schedule.
