25X1A 1. Mr. wife passed-away 12 October 1965.
25X1A 2. Mr. passed the certification examination and
25X1A has been assigned as Chief of the Technical Section on

3. The basic electronic course for Wire Technicians started on
25 October at the Signal Center. This course is intended to help
prepare WET's for further electronic equipment training. Mr.
25X1A - is instructing the course in lieu of CREI who started the pro-
gram last year.
4. All teletype equipment available for the ATF and Eight-Pac
program was prewired and modified.

LANGLPY TECMCAL SECTION
General
1. The la-3 installation program is well underway. We submitted
nineteen work orders to the Space Allocation Division and we
activated four ESC-3 circuits this month. The Agency telephone
switch has not yet been received., however, the space is available
and the preliminary wiring is geared to easily adapt the present
Iff-3 installations to the new switch.
2. An Electronic Training Course for eight Wire Equipment Technicians
and four CTC's began in the Signal Center Training Roos on the
25th of October. The course is expected to last approximately
four months.
Wire Unit
1. The routine maintenance schedule for the Main Signal Center and the
Outside Area is up to date.
2. Troubles reported and corrected in the Washington Area, are as
follows:

A total of four troubles was reported and corrected.
c. Teletype Equipment
A total of forty troubles was reported and corrected.
d. All of the equipment is operating satisfactory and there were
no equipment changes this month.
1i-. Preliminary drawings for the five year planning revision of the
Langley Communications Center have been received.
5. We continue to have TWX data set problems on the local KW-7 Security
Network. The Wire Engineering Section and the Langley Technical
Section are working together on the problem.
6. Assembled and modified the necessary teletype equipment to satisfy
two ATF van installations and one Eight-Pac System.
Electronic Unit
1. Very-High-Frequency Network
No troubles were reported.
2. Microwave
a. Nine troubles were corrected.
b. The modulator (MU-353) at the State Department was repaired and
installed. The microwave standby system is now completely
operational.
3. Ciphony
a. KY-3
(1) Eighteen troubles were reported and the breakdown is as

b. New Circuits
(1) Replaced the KY-1 with a KY-3 on-circuit #18GW48-08 which
terminates between the DCI Office and the White House
switch.
(2) Replaced the KY-i with a KY-3 on-circuit #18GW-48-15 which
terminates between the CIA Watch Office and the White
House switch.
(3) Replaced the two KY-i's with ICC-3's on-circuit #42GW-43
which terminates between Room 5C18, Headquarters and m
Building.
(4) Replaced the two KY-1's with KY-3's on-circuit #42GW-61
ch terminates between Roam 3E925, Headquarters and
25X1A9a office in the Pentagon.
e. Work Order Status Report
(1) Nineteen KY-3 installation plans were prepared and. subaitt
to the Space Allocation Division.
(2) Emergency AC power wiring and signal cabling was completed by
G.S.A. at twelve locations.

Four troubles were reported and corrected.

Two troubles were reported and corrected. Much trouble was
encountered trying to contact Saigon due to defective patching
circuits at the Pentagon and a circuit breakdown in Saigon.
g. IDX/KEG-13
Six troubles were reported and corrected. Most of the reported
troubles are due to the lack of the operator's familiarization of
the equipment.

the appearance of the Hi-Fi installation in Roos 7EO7,

1. Expenditures -
As of 28 October 1965 a total of $119,)#82.10 has been
expended for FY 1966.
2. A cross reference list was prepared to show Trigraph Letters
to Part Numbers of KG-13 coreboards to facilitate the ordering
of KG-13 Parts Kits recommended by OC-E.
A KY-3 Parts List of DCRP was prepared for MS.B. to order
for Bulk Stock along with 66 KY-3 equipments.

1. Staff Employees 181 Hours.

T & I UNIT
25X1A5a1 1. representative, made repairs
and tests on a C-100 Tape Recorder.
2. Forty RR-390 Receivers were received. Twelve units
were rejected because of low 1 KC bandwidth, and six
were rejected for various other reasons i.e., low
8 KC bandpass, low sensitivity, and weak audio output.
The rejected units were repaired, and all receivers
were put in stock.
3. The work load has risen to a point where overtime
was required to process equipment.

1. The Electronic Technicians processed eight PTI's, four
repair requests, and fifty-six job orders.
2. The Teletype Section processed twenty-six receiving
reports and twenty-seven cargo vouchers.
3. All teletype equipment for the first 8 PAC was modified

5. Two K.S.R.'s were modified with the "Broom" modifi-
cations and shipped on 5 October.
6. Five Ampex 350 Tape Recorders were modified for
60 Hz operation.

Equipment Standardization -
1. The Century 444 Oscillograph and the Kay 30-0
Variable Attenuator were recommended for the
OC Standards List.
2. The Category I of the Stock Status Report was
reviewed and recommendations submitted.
1. Test Procedures for the Frederick 1200 Demodulator
and the Northern 174 Model 2 Converter were for-
warded for comments.

the power output specification has been reduced
to 250 MW P.E.P.

tuning. was contacted, and he agreed
to this change.
