1. SG-70 Exciter - Ninety modification kits for the
79000 series have been received and pouched to the appro-
priate areas. Installation of these kits will place
approximately 60% of the units in normal service. The
remainder of the kits should be in the field prior to the
end of the next reporting period.
2. SG-75 Exciter -z-intends to change the
component installation sc eme on the two main oscillator
boards. The change was not because of technical problems,
but to reduce the amount of time it takes to completely 25X1A
check the boards. Previously, check-out time was
running up to forty hours per boar .
3. HFL-1000 Amplifier - An all-Area dispatch will be
sent shortly concerning the filament on the final. The
essence of the dispatch is that at higher input voltages,
i.e., 125 VAC and 230 VAC, the filament is receiving more
than its rated voltage and shortened tube life results.
In addition, a dispatch concerning L114 is in draft form.
It will contain test information and suggested remedies.
4. ST-3A - A sam le phase comparator kit was in-
stalled and tested at aw Indications are very good
in that tuning is simplified and, more important, there
is less chance of tuning error. These kits have been
ordered and will be sent to the field.

5. Receivers - The LORCH-240 ($8,500.00) and Sylvania
R-1414 ($5,000`. were examined. Discussions were held
with concerning possible changes on
M
the mPePRFNJ_nn order for us to use it as a strip receiver
($1,000.00). Procurement memoranda were written for two
General Dynamics SC-914 receivers ($11,000.00 each) and a
National GRR-17 ($10,000.00) for evaluation purposes.

4. Drawings Completed - Approximately 85 drawings of
various sizes were completed and reproduced copies were
forwarded to the originator.

6. Reproduction -
a. Xerox machine reproduced 8,000 copies.

7. General -
a. The 914 Xerox machine has been replaced by a
new 720 Xerox machine.
b. A new Slide Projector (Air Quipt Auto Stock
Model 550) has been purchased for general OC-E usage.
c. The FSMF File has been relocated to Rm. 731.
