Responses to the AFT RFP were received from seven vendors on 5 April. The responses were evaluated, and a memorandum summarizing the results is being prepared for forwarding to OL/PD/ADPE. 2. Installation of the CDS equipment continued amidst some hardware problems. The CDS preacceptance test plan was reviewed by OC and Collins project teams, and appropriate revisions are being made to the test document. System soft- ware integration and check out continues. 3. The ARS-V system was received, installed, and run through all phases of the training, check out, and acceptance schedule. Final acceptance testing of the system was completed on 30 April. 25X1 4. Mr. 0 and an accompanying 0 technician 25X1 arrived in 0 on 27 April to install and initiate tests on the Barry Research (BR) modems and narrow-shift (85 Hz) FSK ., .1 .,. mot...... --- - 25X1 on the tests, started in March, indicate continued superior performance with the BR modems over 850 Hz FSK operation. 5. Preacceptance tests on the Tandem Switch were again unsuccessful. Meetings were held with representatives of the manufacturer, both in Dallas and Washington, to discuss known and apparent problems with the system. Test plans and procedures were carefully reviewed and clarified. Data measurements and recordings are scheduled to be retaken in Dallas during the week of 10 or 17 May. 6. A proposal was received from 25X1 25X1 0 for Phase II-A of the ITS-W system. A decision was made to procure and install a Stromberg-Carlson EPABX-800 tele- phone switch at this facility. 8. The Instal- lation Standards Manual was formally dedicated an signed on 6 April 1976. The distribution to the field was initiated on 26 April. 9. All of the Government-furnished material has been delivered to the TURNKEY module contractor. A port call of 7 May has been established for the building modules. 10. First Article MX-113 multiplexers were received from the manufacturer and acceptance tests have begun at Several discrepancies were noted and corrective modifications have been developed. The First Article tests will be completed o/a 5 May; delivery of production units will follow. 11. Retrofit parts for the TLC-1 teletype line converter have been received, and 41 units have been modified and checked out. Nineteen have been shipped to the field to replace installed units. Additional units will be shipped within the next month to replace those in Area stocks. During the second half of the month, the satellite experienced slow gain variations of severa dB, which required the SKYLINK network to revert to backup. Contract negotiations were completed for the wideband modification to the SC-2 terminal. Final negotiated price was 15.
