Program effort leading to procurement of the new SC-3 small satellite field terminal has continued at an intense pace. The pre-bidders' conference took place on 4 January 1977. The proposal due date is 31 January 1977. 6. As of 31 December 1976 on-line testing of the first SKYMUX station between began. The end result will be the first operationa field SKYMUX station. 8. Members of the Narrowband Secure Voice Working Group collected their final data and began drafting final reports of findings and recommendations. The Working Group was split into three principal investigations: a microwave study, and an audio study, and a review of the Secure Voice Operator's position at TFB, Headquarters. 7. CED completed a Class "A" evaluation of the last of four tactical type transceivers as requested by COD, in support of an 0 requirement. The four transceivers eval- uated were the SouthCom SC-130D, Racal TRA-931, Plessey PRC-320, and the Collins 719D. 11. One hundred and seventy-eight units were repaired, accepted, and returned to Allocation-55 stock. Thirty-seven units were not economically repairable. 12. Action was initiated to convert Band B and C field transmitters to the RT/A-803 Model to support field requirements until the RS-804 follow-on system is available. 13. CED technical and operational evaluation of the Telcom 30.61 receive system was suspended due to a temperature problem. The system has been returned to Telcom for rework of a temperature sensitive circuit. 14. Hughes delivered a proposal, with several options, for modification of their 44440H Millimeter Wave Communicator. 15. Representatives of 3M demonstrated their Model 666 digital facsimile-machine. Quality Assurance Branch testing has been delayed due to a mechanical problem in a set of drive-shaft gears. 16. All new Timeplex MX-113 equipment has been. inspected. To date the TAI shop has expended approximately 600 man hours testing this equipment. 17. The crypto repair unit is making an effort to increase the ready-for-issue stock of KW-7 units. Higher- than-expected power supply failures and covexs with gasket material missing are the two major problem areas encountered.
