Approved For Release 2001/04/23 : CIA-RDP78-03088A000100050034-1 6 February 1968 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Training 25X1A9a FROM Room 1 D 1617 PIRRIPW SUBJECT Report of Completion of Vietnam Station Orientation 6-68 (#23) 23-25 January 1968 25X1A 1. Basic Data DR-0194 including four females, atten e the 23rd running of the Vietnam Orientation, now renamed the Vietnam Station Orientation. This enrollment is the largest since July 1967 when 25X9 persons completed the Orientation. 2. Items of Interest A. This running of the Orientation is the first since the establishment of the triad of programs on Vietnam for which I am largely responsible. As part of the new system, the Orientation was shortened to three days; and, following the newly inaugurated Vietnam Area Course, it ran quite satisfactorily, and in fact quite pleasantly. This pleasant aspect is probably attributable to the greater familiarity that the members of the class achieved with one another over the two-week period. B. From my point of view it was also pleasant because, happily, all speakers showed up on schedule ~SICIII '71 Approved For Release 2001/04/23: CIA- - 088 - Approved For Release 201/04/23: CIA-P EW 88A00010005500034-1 25X1A9a and no substitutes had to be made. A scheduled film got lost somewhere in the shuffle but I was able to find a thoroughly acceptable sub- stitute. This was the only flaw in the three- day schedule. C. The usual panel on living and working conditions in Vietnam was given an extra injection of news and views by the appearance of Mr. Ernest W who was home on TDY. He became the fourth of the panel and helped make it one of the best we have had. 3. Critiques No critiques were written. I dispensed with them because the class was meeting in 1 E 78 which offers no facilities for writing. 25X1A9a Approved For Release 2001/04/23: CIA- Q f 88A000100050034-1
