PROGRAM The course provides an understanding of
the structure and functioning of the
Soviet political, social and economic
systems. Attention is given to foreign
policy, the "new Soviet man," develop-
ments in science and technology and the
military, and to historical factors im-
portant for understanding the contem-
porary scene. Guest speakers from other
components of the Agency supplement the
instruction given by the School of Inter-
national Communism.
PRECOURSE Approximately 300 pages of unclassified
WORK pre-reading is required as background
for discussions. Kits will be distributed
on 17 April 1969. Early registration is
advised.
