MERGER OF INTRODUCTION TO INTELLIGENCE
AND INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNISM COURSES
As announced in Special Bulletin No. 25X1A
29 December 1969, Introduction to Intelli nd
Introduction to Communism will now be combined into
one course. The new course will be called Intelli-
gence and World Affairs (IWA), and will be initiated
on 26 October 1970.
The IWA will be four weeks in duration and will
cover much of the same information in the present
separate courses. Emphasis will be on a career in
intelligence, including its organization and tech-
niques. There will also be a broad review of world
affairs and appraisal of Communist developments. All
professional employees, as determined by their compo-
nents, are eligible to attend the new IWA course.
The only restriction is that students must have worked
for the Agency no longer than 1 1/2 years.
It is recognized that a number of Agency employees
have already taken either Introduction to Intelligence
or Introduction to Communism and have a need for only
two additional weeks of training. You are urged to
enroll these officers in the final regular running of
Introduction to Intelligence which will be 21 Septem-
ber through 2 October, or the final regular running of
the Introduction to Communism which will be 5 October
through 16 October. The first running of the Intell-
gence and World Affairs course for professional em-
ployees will be from 26 October through 20 November.

In the event that some employees are not able to complete
Introduction to Intelligence or Introduction to Communism
during the Spetember/October schedule, the School of Intelligence
and World Affairs will arrange special additional presentations
of these courses during November/December 1970.
