I -RDP78-0309OA000100150, 8-5 OF INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION SYSTEMS 17 SEPTEMBER - 5 OCTOBER 1973 The Intelligence Community Information Science Training Program announces another offering of the popular three-week "Survey of Intelligence Informa- tion Systems." This interagency course is designed to introduce professional intelligence personnel to the uses of information handling systems and their application in the Intelligence Community. Each student will be taught to use a computer terminal and to apply computer library programs to intelligence problems. Fundamental techniques applying the principles of Information Science to the solution of intelligence analytic problems will be demonstrated. Field trips to NSA, CIA, and other community agencies will emphasize the role of computer-based intelligence information handling systems. Selected developments throughout the Intelligence Community will be described by members of the Information Science faculty and guest speakers. OBJECTIVES: 1. To familiarize the student with the capabilities, limitations, contents, and applicability of several major operational intelligence systems in the Intel- ligence Community. 2. To introduce the student to developments in Systems Concepts as a vehicle for the cross- fertilization of techniques and ideas throughout the Intelligence Community. 3. To improve the student's ability to communicate with professionals in this field. 4. To provide a wider range of rational choices to the professional in the analysis, problem solving, and decision making tasks he encounters, through an introduction to Community-wide applications of Information Science techniques. pproved For Release 2001/04/23 : CIA-RDP78-03090A00010015fl016=5 - = r7,4 ?t iq intenmtei Approved For Release 2001/04/23 : CIA-RDP78-0309OA000100150018-5 ELIGIBILITY: GS-09 through 15 officers, or those with equivalent mil- itary rank whose responsibilities require a knowledge of the information handling systems in use in the Intelligence Com- munity. No previous technical or scientific education or training is necessary. Top Secret security clearance with SI/SAO certification is required. The applicant's agency or department should be prepared to transmit certifications by TWX to CIA/CIB, Attention: SO/OTR, citing student name, social security number, date and title of course, as well as clearance status. These certifications should not be transmitted until agency and department Training Officers are notified of the acceptance of their nominees. DATE and TIME: 17 September through 5 October 1973. 0830-1630 hours, three weeks, full-time. 4600 Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Virginia (Chamber of Commerce Building, 2nd floor). No transportation will be provided. Detailed instructions on directions to the building and on parking will be mailed to the students prior to the start of the course. REGISTRATION: Training Officers in each agency or department will receive requests for enrollment. They will then prepare a memorandum which will contain, in priority order, the names, grades or ranks, and social security numbers of the applicants.
