The Board considered the cases of 28 employees who ad been nominated for designation as participants in the System, four re uests for voluntary retirement and three recommendations for involuntary retirement. The Board took action as follows: a. AD/OER further stated that represents an outstanding example of a group of specialized personne w ose services are being lost increasingly through re irement. In planning for the replacement of these specialists the Office of E 4 onomic Re- search has sought to develop a corps of generalist economic analysts. Rather than try to replace the narrow expertise of the specialist on a ore-to-one basis they have undertaken to develop broadly grounded versatile econ mic analysts whom they provide with on-the-job or more formalized training sufficient to allow them to produce reporting on specialized subjects as the n~eds appear.
