It is proposed to request adjustment of the Mediterranean Bureau T/O to provide for one Maintenance Technician, CAF-9, in parallel to similar positions proposed for regrading from SP-8 at other FBIB Bureaus. Your oonnesnt upon the need for this position on Cyprus and upon the desirability of filling it by stateside recruiting of an American-trained radio maintenance man is requested. 2. During the construction period, the Cyprus station will need for the installation and internal wiring of equipment a much larger technical staff than that required for routine operation. At Reseda a staff of six technicians has worked forty-eight hours per week for one year to oomplete the job. Please report your estimate of the following in regard to Cypruss a. In addition to the Chief and Assistant Engineer and the daintenanoe Technician, how many technicians could efficiently be utilized to speed accomplishment of the installation? b. How many competent men are at present on the Cairo staff? How many can be spared from the Cairo operation and are willing to be transferred? a. Can the remaining number required be hired locally or borrowed from the British? Mill it be necessary to request assittanee from U. S.
