Tour Letter of 2 Alas re Terminating Units for avs Antennae
16 Arno 126111
1. Procurement of transformers for the Deversee Wave Antennae of ell
of our now stations has reached en advanced stags. The transformers under procure-
ment are very similar to those you requested per memo dated 2 Awe 1942.
2. The following variations in design are palate& out so that YAW
antennae will be built to match the standard transformers.
a. Transformers are built to acconodate a 28 tech spacing of the two
wires of the antenna. Pasteaing the wires on the inside of the
Pow, trPe insulators mounted on pins spaced 30 lashes on the cross
are furnished will give you the desired spaeln46
b. Pols and cross arm construction should be such as to place the
two wires of the wee antenna 16 1/2 fest above the dream& level.
e. .10 copper wire was assumed ia the oalculatioa of the transformer
impedances.
d.
?eflection transformers are included for all rave eatennaeo whether
lr not a particular antenna is to be for *mi. or bi.direstiomal
reeeptioa. Knee it is usmally difficult to Okla a, lev rosistamee
ground, particularly whore surface conditioas are by and rocky,
better overall mopes'se from the matinee is eXPerlcomea vbei
reflation transformer, are used. Teo oftem radial grenade become
dry and act more like a eapaeity than a. low resistamee. The lanJar
disadvantages of Vie are overcome byes* of a reflection transformer.
is. Gravid cos:sections from transformers to radial grenade will be made
by using a plow of36-12iLseble with n'PrePrIcti, fittifts to
match Amphemel 96-12 fitt on the transformer ease. This feature
will prevent downloads from acting as omaidirmational antennae to
partly nullify directional characteristics of the wave antenna,
The lighting arrestor end transformer case will be connected to
the outer shield of the 0.12/U elan and the regular demised mmi
electrostatio shields will be connected to the inner sondacter.
f. leash near and transformer case will be fitted with One lad eal,
navy Type 1/11.491667 and one threaded stud and cap. Per ettachment of
second and seal, the cap is unscrewed and the end seal attached.
