letter of 12 July.
I as indeed vex ~Iud that you all liked the
speoifio reoouu .ndations as to whether or not you, Alias and
&xine would be transferred to the new posto what I aatuelly
*us tninking of was that rue ;night see fit to transfer you
prior to the opening of the station on Cyprus. As you know,
I would not feel too good about you all being in Cairo under
present conditions. I do not like to make promises because
there are so many unforeseen things which can happen which
mibht preclude their fulfillment. 1 owever, short of making
an actual promise, I do want you to know that it is my in-
tention at this time that you as well as Alice and possibly
Jdexine will be transferred to the new station on Cyprus.
I en fully aware of the difficult circumstances under
mica you all have had to work in ingland, and I regret vory
much tnet I have not been able to do very =oh about changing
hose oircumstenoes. The information given me while I was in
LOnda n, i.e., that the oars were actually enroute, was con-
plstely erroneous. I think at this time one of them is
actually .rout. and the other is supposed to be delivered
in August:. I an sure that when they arrive if they are
properly utilized they can make a great deal or differenos
in the morale of the staff.
I wrote ~ several days ago asking him foi
