Progress Report on the Cyprus Project for the period 1-16 October 1948.
Ref. i Your memorandum to this office dated 20 October 1948, subject as
above.
1. The comments and questions listed below concerning the
above waned Programs Report have arisen during its study by staff
officers of the branch. You are requested to furnish appropriate
information and answers at your earliest convenience.
2. It is apparent that construction on the project is lagging
somewhat. It appears that the opening data may be somewhat later
than Februar7 1948. at is your latest estimate of an opening
date? Should any of our present plans be modified aooordiwgly?
3. Your report indicates that a Diesel mechanic was hired
for full-time duty beginning 16 October 1946. Please explain the
necessity for soak an employe.. Also give his salary rate and
length of time that employment is to be continued. This office
was under the impression that the American personnel on the Bureau's
engineering staff would perform Diesel engineering duties.
4. Please report condition in which electronic equipment was
received on Cyprus.
6. Please givens, brief analysis of the work of sack engineer
and technician at your Bureau to date. Include etfioiensy, initiative,
technical ability, ability to got along with other employees, and
whether or net you desire retention when station is activated.
6. Inform this oMoo as to whether or not financial arrange-
ments made with are proceeding satisfactorily.
