Dear Rogers
Receipt of your 16 January 1949 letter concerning the possibility
of Soviet-inspired sabotage of the station is acknowledged. You are
to be commended for taking what appears to be every reasonable pre.
caution against such action.
I concur in your views except that I have some slight reservation
oonoerning the necessity of an eight or ton foot, fence in lieu of a
six foot fence. I also wonder guards in our Table of
Organisation. I have asked to go over this carefully 25X1
with you and I have no doubt that we shall be able to get approval here
to implement whatever action you and Larry mutually agree is necessary
in this case.
I have written maloslm Frost a letter with reference to this
subject and a copy is enclosed herewith.
The State Department has also received a letter from
concerning this matter. I have talked over the situation with---the
State Department and they have assured ms that they will make repre-
sentations to the Foreign Office to insure that adequate arrangements
are made for the protection of this station.
Sinosrely,
LKi shnq
