J.. We are in receipt of a requirement dealing with the general
subject of Eastern European propaganda, of which part concerns the
teaching of the Russian language by radio in the Orbit during the
past, three years. The study to which this requirement applies will be
a comparative analysis, and requestor desires information from 1954 stated
on a monthly basis and for 1953 and 1952 an the basis of selected represen
tative months. Figures should preferably be stated in terms of hours per
week.

subject of Russian language courses, commonly known as ""Russian by radio
and Headquarters is attempting to fulfill the part of the requirement
g with Orbit He Services on the basis of available program
he ul.e information. However, in the case of international services
Orbit transmitters beamed to audiences in other Orbit
countries, program details are normally confined to a mere listing of
the language used for a given period, and there is no record here of
Russian language courses which comprise a part of the various beams.
