Exploitation of Press For Soviet Personalities

1. With reference to your recent telephone call, OCI would
be pleased to support request that the coverage of
"personnel at diplomat c unc ons" be reinstated.
2. It might be well at this time to restate our position on
subject exploitation. It is OCI's position, supported I believe by
State, DD/P and NSA, that this exploitation is of major importance.
At the request of FDD, for the purpose of maintaining currency in
coverage, OCI's requirement has been cut to its absolute minimum.
The latest of such (FDD requested) cuts was the coverage of personnel
at diplomatic functions.
3. We would like to urge that this coverage or any other
coverage of this type that is needed by other consumers be added
to FDD's exploitation and that due consideration be given to whatever
steps may be necessary to service all of these requirements and at
the same time regain and maintain coverage on a current basis.
4. Please advise us if the above raises any problems with which
we might be of any assistance. Refer any questions on the above to
