DeSimone, Air Force Major Elias Bacha, Air Force The minutes of the 25th meeting of the Committee were epproved. The Chairman stated that the current situation with respect to the unavailability of Chicom publications was essentially the same as that described to the Committee in the recent FDD survey. He then submitted for Committee consideration a proposed memorandum from the CEFLP to the PROCIB recommending clandestine action for the procurement of Chi-omm publications. The recommendation was approved and the memorandum adopted by the Committee. 3. The Par East Program The Committee accelted the Far Fast program as presented in enclosures to the minutes of the 25th meeting of the CEFLP. Among the proposed changes the planned consolidation into topical series of on Cos inist China was especially welcomed. However, there was opposition to a suggestion for merging Chieom agricultural. statistics with industrial data on Comamiaist Asia in one report. Accordingly, these statistics will continue to be pub- lished in separate reports. NAVY review(s) completed. The Chairman stated that FDD maintains a selected list of the best dicticztaries for each language which is periodically revised as new and better dictionaries become available. At the request of Committee members, the Chairman agreed to provide copies of the list. Moreover, the speeches given were primarily reportorial presentation* of Chinese Ccmumulist claims with little attempt to evaluate data or assess capabilities. From an intelligence stand- point, therefore, the Symposium produced nothing new. 6. February Meeting The next meeting of the Committee will be held at 2 p.m. on 10 February 1961, in Roam 1121 M Building.
