At a meeting held on 1 November 1960 with and project personnel, concerning possible TSD support for an air re-sutroly problem and following discussions with DD/P/DPD, the foregoing recommendations were made and accepted viz-a-viz TSD supporting equipment and techniques. a. For the aid to ground RF homing problem: 25 Wesponder Beacons at 16701CC to be purchased by the project with TSD/APB providing technical liaison and direction for the contract. Status: The Contractor has been notified and is presently preparing price and delivery estimates based on discussinng ),Pla+ii h4 Washington representative, an TSD. Beacon characteristics: Same as standard model 4 Wesponder with possible inclusion of an identifying repetitive audio tone and a less com- plex antenna. Additionally, an attempt will be made to provide an additional degree of production quality control at the factory by means of incoming parts inspection, sub-assembly tests and final assembly acceptance tests following a factory run-in period for each beacon of 50 to 100 hours-at least to the extent that it can be accomplished without unduly delaying delivery of the equipment. Instruction sheet and spare battery to be provided with each unit. b. Infra-Red sources and viewers: Six each T-5 monocular and six each T-6 binocular viewers will be provided along with a supply of Infra- Red plastic filter material (XRX-10 and XIX-55) by 15 November 1960. Modified Coleman Lantern IR Beacons (12 each) will be made_avallable_tn the pro- curement officer by (OL/PS) through the irogram. 2. Subsequent to the 1 November meeting discussions have been held with another Beacon Contractor in order to provide a potential back up to the Wesponder program. Funding and desired technical characteristics are presently being worked out. ?
