MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD:
SUBJECT: Requirements Board Meeting this date concerning
Beacon requirements.
Attending;
1. requested a status report from COMM) on the
Beacon for interim requirement. This, according tc

the 1500-1750kc range of aircraft ADF receivers. This as tested
on west coast and proved satisfactory for short range if weather
was fair to good. Static from electrical disturbances mould be
a factor and for this reason FE feels they cannot use as a ppiaary
system during this period of year in Tibet.
2. The foregoing focused attention back on any other system that
would be useable in this specific type of situation. The under-
signed volunteered that possibly at the altitudes contemplated
Sarah would be satisfactory bearing in mind it is not compatible
with existing military equipment. The terrain factors, shape and
characteristics of lobe mere explained and the factor' w of operating
at that altitude 2$-30,00(0 mith terrain of 14 to 21,000' made it
impossible to predict ranges and consistency.

contempleted with Commo has requests for proposals out

before any progress in satisfying this requirement will be evident.
