1. Returned herewith is your memorandum dated 5 June 1958 with
the concurrence of this Office for the purchase of thirty (30)
additional Wire Analyzer units.
2. We have carefully considered this proposal and recognize
certain limitations in this equipment as of the present time. We
recognize that the equipment is somewhat fragile and cannot be
used simply as a piece of field equipment. We further recognize
that the instrument is not the total answer to our problems in
this field. In spite of the limitations however we believe that
it is in the best interest of the Agency to obtain subject equip-
ment. These devices will be utilized primarily for test and
evaluation. We hope to accomplish two purposes by obtaining
these Analyzers; make thorough tests and evaluations of the equip-
ment and the principles involved and improve technical inspections
conducted by this Office.
3. We feel it necessary to obtain thirty (30) units since
this number of units will be required to conduct thorough field
tests on the equipment. Approximately twenty (20) of these units
will be necessary for the Technical Branch since one inspection
trip may require the use of this device in

this requirement that thirty (30) of these devices will be
required.
1. Since you concur in this belief and feel that the price
involved is reasonable it is requested that action be taken as
soon as possible to initiate a contract for the manufacture of
these devices.
