This trip was made on 9 May 1957 for the purposes of visiting to discuss project 50X1 status. Present were: 2. Discussion: 50X1 P-191A. Work on the low-band receiver is about 50% complete. Drawings have been released to production, parts have been ordered, and model Shop production has begun; It is anticipated at thistime that there will be a delay in delivery of these items beyond the contracted date of up to 60 days - due to a severe personnel turn- over rate that the company has been experiencing of late. This seems to have came to an end by the time of this visit with satisfactory new personnel shifted to this Agency's programs. These low-band units will be supplied with an airline-type canvas carrying bag, slightly padded, for some degree of shock absorbing qualities. Promising work has begun on a regulated AC power supply for the receiver. Utilizing Zener diodes and transistor circuitry ex- cellent regulation is being obtained on the specified range of 75 - 140 VAC on a bread-board mockup. No problems are anticipated in packaging this supply so as to permit insertion in the receiver battery compartment. Finally, the canvas carrying bag will be provided with accessory pockets for convenient carrying of spare battery or AC power supply, and antennae. 50X1 P-1 1B. The high-band receiver development is just be- ginning. Work presently is underway on the design of a new RF front end covering the specified frequency bemui. Some discussion was held concerning the advisability of going to khigher IF frequency and it was decided to defer this decision until - Project 50X1 Engineer - can study the various problems involved in this matter; at that time, a mutually acceptable IF frequency will be decided upon; t6r..,u me Nix No. NO CHANGE IN CLASS- Li DECLASSIFIED CLASS. A final decision will be made later in the program. 50X1 P-144A4 The carrier switch prpposal was discussed and 50X1 stated that they were prepared to modify the power sway 50X1 Li-d-h-de isolation circuits without changing the price of the contract; The modifications include design of a high efficiency, low drain re- ceiver/power supply and insertion of capacitors on both bides of the line, so as to provide a, balanced load and reduce the probability of detection by a DC line check; Distribution: Orig. - P-144A 1 - P-191A 1 - P-191B 1 - Chrono TSS/APD/ 50X1 (23 May 1957) 50X1 CO N.
