The BC-25 Battery Charger
A. INTRODUCTION
The BC-25 will charge your 2.5 volt, AA size (penlight) nickel-
cadmium battery from ac mains voltages of 100 to 130 volts. A neon
light is installed in the charger to indicate that power is being
received from the mains and that the battery is properly installed
in the charger. The charger mains plug is a universal type which will
fit almost any mains outlet. '
B. CHARGING THE BATTERY
1. Install the brass inserts in the charger. The inserts are
round at one end and flat at the other. If the inserts are already
installed, screw out and reverse the pins if necessary to fit your
mains receptacle.
2. Remove the battery cap and insert one penlight battery into
the battery compartment with the positive (70 end of the battery facing
oUtward. Replace the cap.
3. Insert the chargerin the mains receptacle and observe that
the neon light glows. No glow will indicate no mains voltage or that
the battery is reversed.. The fault must be corrected and the light
must glow before the battery can be charged.
NOTE:, With some batteries, the light may glow when the battery
iS reversed; therefore, it is not safe to depend upon the
light alone to determine that the battery has been inserted
correctly.
4. Charge for 14 hours to fully charge a discharged battery.
Overcharging for a day or two will not normally harm the battery, but
constant overcharging should be avoided.
C. USING THE BATTERY EXTENSION TUBE
1. A small extension tube, about the same size as the penlight
battery, may be provided to allow two batteries to be charged at the
same time. If provided and used, first remove the battery compartment
cap from the charger, then insert one penlight battery into the battery
totpartment with tne positive end of the battery facing outward. Screw
the extension tube Into the chargerbattery compartment and insert a
second battery, again with the positive end of the battery facing out-
ward. Screw the battery cap to the end of the extension tube and plug
the charger into the mains.

.2. Charge 14 hours, or the same time as for one battery.
D. cAurioNs
1. Do not plug the Charger into a 220 volt mains or the charger
maybe damaged.
2. When mains voltages are too low, the neon light may not glow.
The battery may Still be charged, but Charging times must be doubled.
3. Always insert the battery and replace the cap before plugging
the charger into the mains. NEVER INSTALL OR REMOVE THE BATTERY WHILE
THE CHARGER IS PLUGGED INTO THE MAINS.

The BC/A-25 Battery Charger
A. INTRODUCTION
The BC/A-25 will Charge your. 2.5 volt, AA size (peniight) nickel-
cadmium battery from ac mains voltages of 200 to 240 volts. A neon
light is installed in the charger to indicate that power is being
received from the mains and that the battery is properly installed
in the charger. The charger mains plug is a universal type Which
will fit almost any mains outlet.
B. CHARGING THE BATTERY
1. Install the round brass inserts in the charger to fit your
mains receptacle. If the inserts are found installed in the charger,
screw out and reverse the pins if necessary to fit your mains
receptacle.
2. Remove., the battery cap and insert one penlight battery into
the battery compartment with the positive (+) end of the battery facing
outward. Replace the cap.
3. Insert the charger in the mains receptacle and observe that
the neon light glows. Na glow indicates no mains voltage or that
the battery is reversed. The fault must be corrected and the light
must glow before the battery can be charged.
NOTE: With some batteries, the light may glow When the battery
is reversed; therefore, it is not safe to depend upon
the light alone to determine that the battery has been
inserted correctly.
