Modification of RS-13 Transmitters
1. Existing operational requirements have indicated that it
is desired to modify certain of the present frequency-shift RS-13
transmitters to conform to the manner in which the experimental unit
was modified by the Consequently,
was requested to submit a proposal to accomplish this work on
certain of these units.
2. The proposal indicates that the unit cost is 8783.00.
This cost is considered excessive; therefore, the writer undertook
to determine the minimum number of sets required to meet operational
needs.
Based on a dispatch to the field,
dated 10 May 1956, and upon discussions with Support
Branch, 0C-O&T, the latest information indicates that only one
unit is required. However, further discussions with Support
Branch on 4 June indicate that it would be desirable to have two
such units modified. Consequently, this has been discussed with
at the Laboratory, who has agreed that the perfor-
mance of this work will not seriously interfer with any other Lab-
'oratory obligations.
4. It is therefore suggested that a Laboratory Work Order be
issued to cover the effort necessary and to establish a deadline of
15 July for the first unit. This unit may then be air-shipped to
the EUCA area to fulfill a requirement whose deadline is 1 August.
