Discussion
25X1
Topics discussed and conclusions, if any, are outlined below.
1. The customer has expressed urgent ne r the rapid 25X1
accomplishment of the AS-3 program. was requested
to do anything'possible to speed up t e program.
is currently trying to add competent personnel to 25X1
s staff for assignment to this project. Current labor
procurement difficulties are well known. In order to
implement the program, additional consultive support
from the l l engineering staff will be made available. 25X1
2. Various interconnection methods were discussed. The
fact was established that the receiver used for the
AS-3 had not been selected, hence:
A. The power supply requirement cannot be established.
B. The method of system interconnect cannot be estab-
lished.
A request was made that____ ) (make recommendations as to
the packaging philosophy.
3. Other GFE portions of the AS-3 were discussed as to
availability.
A. The printer APT-3 was to be sent to us by 15 May.

C. The receiver choice is expected in July.
4. The impedances to be expected of the various antennas
were specified as 50 to 1200,a, 1 450 per the equipment
spec. Both gave the opinion 25X1
that low impedances were most probable, in the 5011 region.
A. A study under another contract is now in process
to determine what these impedances are.
5. Tolerance on the 150 cps multivibrator frequency is ? 5%
by present design limits. These will be retained unless
the customer advises negatively.
6. Power measurement techniques were gone into. 25X1
said ladder-type resistive loads made up of carbon res s-
tors, and a series RF ammeter, were his usual loads.
Correlation between his organization and 0 is to be 25X1
continued on this matter.
7. The specification was based on a band-switched transmitter,
so far as test frequencies are concerned. It was recom-
mended that octave frequencies be used to test instead,
namely 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30 mc.
8. The currently used method of saturation coding of magnetic
tape to eliminate random noise triggering was explained.
9. The Amphenol checkerboard connector as used on the AN/TRC-6
was discussed as a possible desirable connector for the
AS-3 System. was to investigate this connector. 25X1
