( AS-6 DATA TELEMETERING SYSTEM , Field Unit: Tests conducted in the Washington area on the service test model of the Field Unit Power Amplifier indicates that I-65A tetrodes can be substituted for the PL-177 tetrodes now employed, with only minor retuning necessary. This change can be accomplished when the final model is returned for sealing prior to further testing. Base Station: A representative spent six weeks in assisting with the installation of the AS-6 Base Station, and fur- ther, participated in an abbreviated test program which involved all built components of the system. Test results generally were satisfactory, however, there were minor discrepancies in the Field Unit channeling, which so far has been attributed to rough handling. A considerable portion of the overseas six weeks' period was spent training personnel on the maintenance and opera- tion of the AS-6 Base Station. Upon completion of this training, it is felt that these people can maintain this Base Station equip- ment, providing adequate spare parts are provided. TASK 9. LINEAR EXCITER FOR THE AS-LEA This program has been delayed indefinitely, pending decisions on the future course of the AS-4B Program. This action has been directed by the cognizant Government engineer. TASK 10. FABRICATION OF RS-16B Work on this Task is nearing completion. To date, nine Field Units have been delivered to the Government. The tenth Field Unit is being retained by as Government fur- nished equipment assigned to Task An eleventh Field Unit, made up of assemblies constructed under the spare parts program, and a chassis wired during the engineering phase of the program will be delivered along with the remaining spare parts early in the next reporting period. 25X1 DOC ~~-- REV DATE 1 +oad BY y~/~r s y ORIG COMP 05DPI TYPE lZ_ ORIG CLASS PAGES L REV CLASS JUST NEXT REV a-4/O AUTHI MO 10.1 y L_V_ll L_I_ Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/01/04: CIA-RDP78-03330A004100090012-0
