1. The referenced memorandum, which forwarded the SPD
approval of a technical proposal, indicates that the contractor
is to provide "for future spare parts of modifications to the
systems" and spare parts for the "alert system."
and of SPD/EAB, were contacted on 13 February 1956
for a clarification of Paragraph 1 of the referenced memorandum.
2. Spare parts for future modification is interpreted
to mean changes now in progress, or changes as a result of cir-
cuit improvements requested as a result of acceptance tests.
Certain changes have been incorporated in unit number two, and
the specific parts have already been furnished us to incorpo-
rate these changes in unit number 1. Also, new relays have
been indicated for the alert light feature of the system which
is referred to in the referenced memorandum as the "alert sys-
tem," The contractor has installed these new relays in unit 2
and will install the new relays in unit 1, or will furnish the
relays to be installed by us.
3. The spare parts proposal is based on a 10%
replacement of electrical parts, and the components furnished
will reflect such changes that have been recently incorporated,
or that are now under consideration as a result of such tests
on the delivered unit. This action on the part of the contrac-
tor is therefore considered acceptable, and fulfills the re-
quirement of Paragraph 1 of the referenced memorandum.
