Receive RF and the Receive Data terminals to Washington, D.C.)
for the next testing phase. It is expected that the testing
between Washington, D.C., and will cover a 25X1
period of 1 mouth from a roximately 1 May through 31 May
1958. will furnish the necessary 25X1
engineering service to put the receive equipment into 25X1
operation at Washington.
Taste Order 41 - A trip was made to
on 17 February 1958 to make arrangement
for. thetests, which were conducted from o
February. The tests, primarily for debugging the system,
were successful. A total of 15,550 bits were received at
the base station with a total error rate of 1.02% taking
all errors into jpccount. The transmit error rate was
0.38%. After a se parity check, this error rate was
0.32%; and after .double parity check, this error rate was
0.16% showing the usefulness of the error correction at
the base station. Tentative signal plans were arranged for
t ats at Washington, D.C., and
These tests will require the use o
a brevity code for use on an orderlink from the field
station to the base It will be possible
to contact the base with AN or CW signals using the
exciter unit and the 500 watt transmitter.
Task 0 r .i I is pur-
chasing one input - output Soroban units, a combination
high-speed reader using photo-diodes and high-speed out-
put punch. Proposals are being prepared by the contractor
to incorporate error correction in circuits in the
equipments and also the capability of receiving the
field set. The contractor has been advised of the require-
ment for ten. transmit and ten receive frequencies for the
system.
Tadk Order 6. -- Test Power Supplies - One test power
supply unit has been completed and is ready for shipment;
