SUbject s Second Supvrary Report
Period, 5 May 1955 . 5 June 1955
1. ProJect Studys
The work as outlined in section (a), Piss* 2 of the contract is
well underway. The 3 transmitters have been received and tests
made to determine keying technignes to handle the desired pulse
type transmissions. These tests were eusoessfUl and as a result
some slight modifications have been incorporated in the trans-
mitters. These modifications are in the clamp tube, a 6145 tube,
circuit.
Following the successful attempts to key the transmitter an order
ems plumed for the 1 kwpower amplifier to use with the transmitter.
It in anticipated that modificationsNoy be required to adopt this
equipment for this service. Awarding:1y only one of the.. poster
amplifiers was ordered at this tile. The additional two required
mill be ordered following the *woes. of the initial tests on the
first one:ordered. This power amplifier is expected to be available
on or about 10 June 1955. The testing and modifying of this unit
is expected to be completed by 5 July 1955.
As these power amplifiers are readily available it is not expected
that these will introduce any delay.
A multivibrator unit was designed and assembled including essential
controls for out station keying.
The preliminsry tests; to determine a suitable photographic technique
have been successfullyemq0Ated. This technique maybe modified
to adjust it for use with the Dumont camera. The cameras are ached.
uled for shipment from the factory the first seek in July. The re-
sults of the initial teats of the equiment indicate that all leads,
etc. must be carefully shielded.

Dear
June to 1955
Wen
Attached are three copies of our aecond summary report
covering the period 5 May 5 June 1955.
The preliminary work on thiprejeet, es believe, has pro..
greased at a satisfactory rate. Some of the problems encountered
proved far less serious than anticipated. However, we do not
expect to get off quite, so easily in the future, particularly
when we begin tests with the kilowatt power argaifier. For this
reason we believe we are rather fortunate in being somewhat ahead
of our schedule.
