LLASS NEXT REV 2-0/0 JUST C Mil : H 10?2 Washington, D. C. Attention: Referencel Dear Task Tir\\ 28 Failryarr_1256 6991 We have been making a search in the four frequency bands which were suggested as possible areas in which we might operate. The results of a 4.day search which began on 24 February 1956 and continued daily through 27 February 1956 ants A. 2000. .2065. kcs Only on 2000 kcs was any appreciable activity noted in this band during the daily period of observation.-namely 0830 hours--16,i5 hours. This band appears to be quite clear. B. 2105. - 2135. kos Fairly active operations were observed at about 2107 kcs, at 2190 kos, at 2300 kcs and at 2327 kcs. At other areas within this band, there was no activity noted during the daily period of observation, 0830 hours . 1645 hours. C. 2505. - 2855. kos This entire band appeared to be quilts active. At no time during the daily period of observation, 0830 0 1645 hours, VW there any clear channel mted. D. )155._. A240. kos There vas considerable activity noted at 3160 kcs, at 3180 kcs, at 3200 keg, at 3215 and at 3240 kes. The other areas 'within this band appeared to be clear during the daily observation period, 0830 . 1645 houre. Page 2 It is particularly interesting to note that the most favorable areas are found in the lower two bands considered. These also are the desired regions for our particular type of operation. It is hoped that you maybe able to obtain frequencies for use on this project in the areas mentioned. Possibly you could be successful in obtaining a selection of 6 frequencies, thus having an alternate set available in the event of unexpected interference appearing. In consid- ering the frequencies, the following are suggested as possibly being available and desirable. Master Slave 1 S)ave 2 (a) 3170 2015 2135 (b) 3230 (alternate) 2050 2225 It is desired to have as wide a separation as practical between the Master? transmission and the "Slave.' It is believed desirable that a bandwidth of 40 to 45 kcs be allowed for the transmissions. The frequencies listed are suggestions only. It is appreciated that the resultt of the search made at the other sites may indicate a different choice of frequencies. It would be appreciated if you 'would kindly advise us promptly as to frequencies selected together with notice of authorisation to use. We must order new crystals as well as modify the transmitters to operate at the new frequencies. This will take a short time, but we wish to get it done as quickly as possible. With kind wishes.
