General - A trip was made to DnTE: 29 August 1958 on August , to monitor work being done on the HG-3 Band Crank Generator. Present were: 25X1 25X1 2. Power Regulator - A-concentrated effort on the design of a suitable regulator has~been-made by the contractor since the receipt of the contract. Anon-dissipative type regulator, using silicon controlled rectifiers, has-been breadboarded and has met with general success. A regulator of this type, with . full wave rectification, would have two silicon controlled rectifiers,-two saturable reactors, two chokes, a transformer, a transistor as its mayor components. The contractor believes that this regulator can be housed in the space allotted in the generator unit. The important advantage of a regulator of this type is that it would ioake the efficiency of the unit independent of crank3.ng speed. 3. Hand Crank --The contractor has me~de a sample hand crank awl is now running teats, using a magnetic fluid clutch as a simulated load, to determine the-best type of crank to be used with the generator. The contractor expects to have a complete generator unit breadboarded within the next sixty days. ~~~ ~E~RG ~~:~i?
