Request for Technical Proposals
15 February 1957 -(
1. There is a requirement for the development of a Minia-
turised Data Recorder. This is a magnetic tape device which
may record information simultaneously on parallel channels. It
is desired that we receive technical proposals from contractors
interested in undertaking the development of this recorder ac-
cording to our Specification No. 57-A-1059-4.
2. It is requested that the following firms be invited to
submit technical proposals to undertake this work. Should you
desire to add other firms to this list, we request that we be
notified prior to submission of the specification to that firm:
In order that the technical proposals be as comprehensive as
possible, it is requested that separate conferences be arranged
between the technical representatives of interested companies
and government engineers prior to the submission of proposals.
3. The attached Specifications No. 57 A-1059-A describe
the desired item and other services necessary for the develop ent
program. The equipment and Specifications are UNCIASSIFIED but
the association of the Agency with the equi S i a-
tions shall be SECREP. The project engineer i:s

I. Attached here rl:th are three copies a the Functional
Characteristics of a miniature: data recorder with plejrbaek unit
an 8PD retluirement.
2. These characteristics have been reviewed by the Wiring
Division and are satisfactory from an engineering standpoint. De-
velopmental specifications are being prepared according to these
fictiona characteristics.
3. Kind indicate your concurrence with these characteristics
by signing the top copy and returning, it to the neering Division.
