On February 1 0 a call was laced to 2. According to one antenna has been completed and -Du ing tested electrically. r testing it was found that the metal mast supporting the antenna interfered with proper antenna operation when in vertical polarization. The effect of the metal mast was negligible when the antenna was operated in horizontal polarization. To remedy this fault, a special eight foot mast has been constructed which eliminates pattern breakup. The new mast consists of alternate sections of metal tubing and plastic tubing, so arranged as to effectively break- up interferring currents in the mast. The new mast is constructed so that the socket at the bottom is an exact duplicate of the socket on the antenna, allowing the use of a conventional mast connected either to the antenna directly when using horizontal polarization or to the special mast when using vertical polarization. 7FX1 25X1 25X1 Distribution: R+D Subject File Monthly Report R+D Iab OC-SP/EA EP Chrono 30 %7 20 op %#fi.ViOY. ^ DATE Feb APR Get I REV BAT! v 1 J"e BY S~?
