I thoroughly agree with your letter of March 22. The meeting
went off excellently, and as / wrote Dr. 'ranee', I was much impressed
by the manner in which both sides appreciated each other.* points of
view and stimulated a good deal of constructive thinking.
Ordinarily initial meeting such fis this have a tendency to be
somewhat stilted and sterile since we don't know the briefer? eapabilit
and the briefer is unaware of our interests. In this instance I was
most interested in seeing how many subjects of decided mutual interest
appeared. and I expect that our people will be following up on many of
these.
To avoid ebnfusion we will proceed along the lines agreed on
when you were down here. That is, all initial contacts will be made
through you..
I would much appreciate your extending our thanks to all of the
members of your firm who came to Washington. We all appreciated
the time and effort which they devoted to this meeting. I am sure it
will prove well spent.
