SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY SYRACUSE 10, NEW YORK MAXWELL GRADUATE SCHOOL OF CITIZENSHIP AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS 11 ay 21, 1962 STAT Street N.W. Washington 25 D. C. I have been in correspondence with bothi and especially STAT Matt Baird regarding the possibility of oul av. presentative of the Agency participate in our annual Washington Seminar program, In a letter to me last week, Matt confirmed the possibility of someone coming to the Fairfax Hotel, where our group will be staying, on the morning of Tuesday, 19 June, to talk for half an hour or so on the general role which intelligence activities play in the formulation of our national policy. There is, apparently, still a possibility that man Kirk atrick could be with us tho this is still not certain. STAT I we had originally suggested an earlier hour that morning to fit In w i our schedule. Would it be possible to set our meeting at 9:30 or even 9:00 instead of the 10:00 that Matt now mentions? We will try to fit in with your schedule as far as we can but, if it does not make a difference to you, we would prefer the earlier hour. If you will let me know about this, we will go ahead. Meanwhile, we reserve that morning for you and I look forward, personally, to having this presentalion. Nothing of this sort has ever been a part~f our program in Washington and, as a Consultant to your group, Iam keenly aware of how important the topic is. Having heard Lyman Kirkpatrick speak, I would feel highly honored if he were free to be with us. Donald G. Bi sho Director, Washington Ser'inar P..'.--Now that we are not coming out to the new building, as was once thot possible, may I assume that there is no reason for me to separate out the three foreign officials who are in our group but that you will talk to the whole group including them? Let me know on this, too,plea.se. Departments: ECONOMICS - GEOGRAPHY ? HISTORY ? PHILOSOPHY ? POLITICAL SCIENCE - SOCIOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY Programs: CITIZENSHIP ? INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS ?
