1. It has become evident that on occasion it will be necessary
to employ the demand record system with recorders other than the
Minifon transport. In this instance, the present controls available
are inadequate and must be augmented by a suitable relay. Similarly,
an external battery box will be required for the timing motor and
video battery of the demand system. It is intended that these two
functions be combined in the following manner.
2. Contact the lab and determine if under the auspices of their
present project to modify Minifons, they will undertake to fabricate
a similar number of battery boxes which also contain a double-pole,

double-throw relay. The coil of this relay would substitute for
the present Minifon motor winding while its contacts would then be
used to start and stop external auxiliary equipment such as the
Dictect Recorder. A rough sketch is attached.
3. To recap, a complete system would then have two possible
combinations:
