This report covers the items of the test cache in
on the second recovery. Time lapse was one year and 10 days.
The stainless steel burial container was in excellent
condition. The gasket did not show any visual signs of deteriora-
tion and still maintained its flexibility. All items and packag-
ing inside the container were in excellent condition.
The Japanese 5-gallon can is still serving its original
purpose of being a container to hold packaged items together and
make easier recovery. Although in both the 6-month recovery and
this one, there was water and dirt inside the can. All items pao-
kaged inside were in very good condition. The Japanese rubber
which was included in this test is holding up well, and at present,
we have not had a lose.
The bamboo section is not a suitable container for burial.
The white ants seem to really enjoy it. The bamboo was used only
as a means of keeping packaged items together. The packaged items
were in plastic and rubber, and at present, we have not had any
losses. The Japanese rubber which was used in the container was
beginning to show some age. The inside of the package was still
in good shapes, and the rubber had retained its elasticity and
self-sealing properties.
