Subject: Task Order No. 1
Enclosed are two copies of Progress Report No. 4 which
sunanarizes the action taken on the subject Task order during the
period from 20 October 1958 through 20 November 1958.
Also enclosed is a copy of the Project Fiscal Report as
of 30 October 1958, and a copy of the current Project Schedule.

PROGRESS R E P O R T NO.
1. It is anticipated that all drawings will be complete by approxi-
mately December 1, 1958. The present status of the major components is as
follows:
a. Forward Door
(1)
Drawings: All details are complete and have been
released for manufacture except the lower door
framing members.
(2) Procurement: Approximately 25% of the required
items have been received. Quotations on castings
have been received and a purchase order will be
issued within the next few days.
Manufacturing: All intermediate frames have been
completed and a protective coating applied. Tooling
for the door corners is approximately 50% complete.
The use of epoxy resin dies has been abandoned in
favor or maple until all contours have been verified.

b. Aft Door: Same status as the forward door except that the
main assembly and installation drawing has been started.
c. Coaming
(1)
Drawings: All details are complete and have been
released for manufacture.
Manufacturing: One section of coaming has been
completed.
Fabrication of tooling has been scheduled during a
later period since the tooling is not required until
late in the program.
(2)
Tracks: Since this is the last item required for installa-
tion on the aircraft, drawings of the tracks and their
manufacture appear latest on the schedule; however, drawings
should be complete by about December 1.
Action Required:
The following items were requested by the Government Project
Engineer on his visit to INC. on November 13, 1958.
1. Add hand holes or access plates to the inner door skin to
facilitate removal or replacement of broken parts of the mechanism.

the desirability of making the door installation at Friendship Airport. (This
was done and the following information forwarded by telephone to the Government
Project Engineer on November 14, 1958:
a. It is anticipated that space will be available at Friendship
Airport during the required period.
b. The additional cost to the Government for accomplishing
the installation at Friendship will-total approximately
$4,500.00. This includes hanger heating for extra shifts,
police protection and hanger rental. No labor is included
in this cost.
