We mailed to you today the modified originals of the Model 1
incinerator drawings,
under separate cover, and are enclosing herewith
two revised copies of the first 7-1/2 pages of your Purchase Description
dated February 10, 1960.
The drawings have been modified and supplemented so as to
provide for, all of the changes and,additions.which were indicated previously
in our letter dated March 1, 1960; those which were found to be necessary
in the courSeOf. the commercial fabrication of the four units by
those which appeared to meritconsideration on the basis of your
installation and operating experiences; and, perhaps, a few others.
These changes have been reflected in the enclosed draft of part
of the Purchase Description by insertion of the additional drawing numbers
anci,namps.(partpames). The remainder of your original Purchase Descrip-
tion is not affected by any of the modifications or additions made to the
drawings.
Oux impressions of what remains to be done by you in order to
complete the Purchase Description may be of help to you and are indicated
as follows:
(1) Section 4. Spare Parts of the original draft has to be
amended. In this connection, our recommendations for appropriate spare

(2) Section 7. Tests of the original draft also has to be
amended. Our recommendations for acceptance testing were submitted in our
letter of June 29, 1960.
(3) Instructions have to be included somewhere, to provide for
(a) the stencilling Of the precautionary message ("Turn off air before
opening door", or its equivalent) on the front of the outer shell just over
the door, and (b) the painting of selected portions of the Unit with a
"warning" type of paint. We recommend that red paint, of a type to be
selected by you, be used in these applications. In view of the format of
your Purchase Description, it appears to us that such instructions might
well'be inSerted as part of Section'9. 'Preparation for Delivery'. The parts
which were painted with red enamel on the Modell_ units which we prepared
included the Handle (two; NO. 354-319); Latch Handle (No. 354354);
Handle (No. 354-375); Stiffener (two; No. 354-376); Grab Rail.(No. 354-377);
Ball (No. 354-381); Handle (No. 354-392); and Sight Glass Nut (three;
No. 354-401). Incidentally, 'standard practice calls'for such instructions
to be included in the text of the specifications, rather than on the drawings.
Also, as a matter of record, on January 3, 1961, we mailed to you
the following, for use in connection with your Model 1-units:
(1) Two sets of N39 heater elements
(2) Two sets of N40 heater elements
(3) Twelve 5/16"-18 x 1" hex head cap screws, with
associated lock washers and nuts.

1.1 This purchase description covers an incinerator for the emergency
destruction of documents.
1.2 The purpose of this purchase description is to make certain that
