AHAUMAZAD01.12101141 A materials inspiction and test was con- ducted to ensure that the 6 an motor-generator sets being procured under contract 431-925-2 from 25X1 were adequate to start and operate motor-blowers for the Model I. in- cinerators. . The motor generator was connected to the.mostor-blower unit and operated satisfactorily. When the load was applied a suns in current .to 55 amperes and a drop in voltage of 20 volts was noted. At normal operating conditions the generator provided 15 amperes at 380 volts with a frequency of 51 cycles. The motor generator speed was 1530 r.p.m. and that of the blower was 2950 r.p.m. Distributions Orig. -.Contract Jacket via C/C3 1 - IS (Chrono.; ,.. oidnicatts , aim DATE8:),:41..i.4.-... The purpose of the visit was to determine the status of Production to arrange testing procedures and to work out a materials substitution for certain items which the contractor had experienced difficulty in obtaining. 2. The contractor was given two additional sets of drawings and specifications for the Model I incinerator and was also given the louver forming tool cited in the contract. . 3. With regard to changes in material the contractor was advised that he could substitute stainless type 321 tubing for the stainless type 310 tubing used in fabrication of the air nozzles. The contractor also requested a substitute for the stainless type 310 square stock on which he was experiencing a delayed delivery date* Sinee,he indicated that the delay would only be a matter of three weeks and since this material is used for the stack flange, he was revested to adhere to the specification and to make no substitute* 25X1 25X1 4. The contractor was advised that the cover plate called for in Drawing 354.'387 was associated with the damper handle. Be previously had been unable to locate this part on the finished drawing. Be was also advised that fabrication of the liner had previously been performed by rolling half a sheet, then punching the louvers, rolling the second half sheet, punching its louvers, and then welding the two eheets together to form the circumference of the liner. The contractor was also advised that his reeeest to roll a 7/16 inch lip on the bottom plate for the basket would be acceptable. Be was revested to minimize this dimension ad much as possible and to increase the height of the basket so atoto compensate for the area of mesh that vould be covered. by the rolled lip. The thinning of the metal tolling the lip was to be held to a minimum. ng the visit a meeting:was held with a representative from regarding the discrepanciee in the base for the blower. 7)(1 re o this meeting, the people have agreed to 25X1 ' supply the required blowers with a modified base eliminating a 3 inch increase in the height of the outlet flange.' By supplying blowers with this modified base, it has been possible to avoid designing an adaptor section to tie the blower discharge to the incinerator air inlet.. A visit was also made to the 25X1 principal Subcontractor. Their facilities and production quality were deemed adequate for the required fabrication under this contract* T CONFIDENTIAL Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/09/18: CIA-RDP78-03642A001600040104-5 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/09/18: CIA-RDP78-03642A001600040104-5 ;::---',., ? - A V.: . : - ? All details for the acceptance testing of the incinerators were reviewed with the contractor, and he will handle all arrangements so as to perform the necessary air tests and burning tests. He indicated that he expected to have the first two units ready for inspection shortly after 1 November. 7. Opportunity was taken during tbi? visit to deliver to the con- tractor one set of drawings and Specification No. 362 for the Model Ir incinerator' and one set of drawings for the Model III incinerator.
