1. Description of the Project
This project is for the testing and evaluation of standard tape
recorders.

2. Purpose of the Project
The purpose of this project is to test and evaluate certain standard
tape recorders under the overall T&E program. Some nineteen (19) recorders
will be tested under various environmental conditions of temperature,
humidity, line voltage and frequency, and dust. The most important charac-
teristic that we are interested in is that of reliability. .The result
of this program will be a final report that will enable TSS/ASD to
ascertain those machines which are operationally suitable.
3. Recommended Contractor
The recommended contractor for this project is ogy
. This contractor has continuously engaged 25X1'
in evaluation programs of electroacoustic systems and holds some 250
patents in the field of magnetic tape recording. It is felt that their
personnel are highly qualified to conduct this program.
4. Support Requirements
There are no support requirements necessary from other Government
Agencies. This program has been fully coordinated with TSS/ASD.
5. Total Cost
The total estimated cost will be $45,732.001 including a fixed fee
of $2,588.00, for a twelve month period. Charges are to be made against
Allotment Number 8-2502-10.
6. Security Information
Contract RD-33 is an Agency sterile contract. Task N should also
be Agency sterile. Government interest may be shown. The program is un-
classified; however, the final report will be classified Confidential.
