On the 2nd of December a visit was made to Por the purpose of discussing the possible deve oilmen o a small step on garbage can size) incinerator for the routine destruction of classified waste residue an ~ he invests tion of a garbage disposal for the same purpose. Caaano Security, ac- companied me on this visit since e s e pa y most interested in this phase at the present time, and his group is the one initiating a request to TSS for such items. 25X1 25X1 2. In order to give some background of the work re- 25X1 sent bei conducted at in the field of file destruction 25X1 initiated the discussion with a review and explanation of the 25X1 principle iavolved and operation of the present type incinerator. A dem- onstration was then conducted using the Prototype Number 2 unit. Later a review of ~ Project on the evaluation of coanmercial incinerators 25X1 with a short explanation of each incinerator under evaluation was pre- sented. The next phase of the program consisted of a demonstration of destroying file paper with a Hotpoint garbage disposal. 3. The next program on the agenda was a discussion of the possibil- ities of a development program for a small incinerator of the size of either a restaurant type coffee urn or a step on garbage can. 25X1 presented a tentative working list of requirements for such a developmental item. This list of requirements is listed below: a. Incinerator to be of the size of a step on garbage can or a restaurant coffee urn. (approx. 12" I.D.xlS" O.D.) b. Should require no auxiliary fuel except the air blown in by a motor blower. c. To be portable - with a handle - by one man and be as light as possible. d. Should be coanpact, simple to operate, and failproof. e. Should be flueless, with an absolute filter, however a window may be opened during its operation. f. To be used in a small room for destruction of a normal day's waste residue (Secret waste bags) -seven to eight bags per day. g. To require a small motor with as close proximity as possible, with all probability the one cylinder to contain both the burn chamber and the motor blower. Should be pouchable. i. A view port is desirable as is a pedal. for tap opening and feeding. ~. The motor blower is to use 110 Volt AC 50-60 cycle current with if possible a hand cranking blower for emergency use. k. No} legible piece (l character) of ash or paper to get through the screen and into the filter. 1. Desirable to have the inner chamber easily removable. m. Should be quiet as possible - reasonable for an office. n. It is highly desirable that no instrumentation be necessary. An air flow controls such as a motor rheostat could be tolerated. o. Should be asthetically presentable. 4. The day was completed with a discussion of garbage disposal in- cinerators or devices.
