~' Memo to Chief, RBCD dated 9 August 1960
1. Your request by refesnce mes~o for the installation of a
d~oastration incinerator in Room Zp~j ~ the West Out Building has
been considered. In view of your de`relapaent of a sew type of
incinerator, your desiz~e to demoptrate it is understood, but the
location selected is questionable.

apply air to the unit daring operation, a window or
corridor door must be opened (bah o! which waald be objectionable
in an occupied office), causing a lop of heated or cooled air
depending upon the season of the year.
3? Observation of a similar unit at indica-
ted minute fly ash during operation, and f stoloed to assist in
burning packaged mster~, the fly ash was quite noticeable. At any
rate, s screen should be provided at top of stack to reduce the
hazard. Adjacant offices with apes Windows would robab
to operation of the unit. P ly object
~+. It is also quite probable that Buildings ~sgement, p8g
would seriously ob3eet to the installation, per se, unless the unit
sad ite operation wp explained to theaoa to satiety their safety re-
quix~-ents .
5? To overcome the above mentioned difficulties and objections,
it is recaamenc~,ed that a more suitable location for installation of
the unit be considered. The groin floor of a more isolated bui
could be preferred so that the vent could be horizontally Pro~ectel d~
outside without hazardous surraund,iags.

6. It i.s noted that the motor for the unit squires three
phase power which would probably be difficult to provide in the field.
Single phase power would be satisfactory for a l~.P. rotor. Also,
50 ay+ale power in the field would reduce the fen output about 25 per
sent, with en equivslent reduction in static pressure.
7. Wb would be ga.ad to disaws the above aeanmeats at your
convenience.
