MEMORANDUM FOR : Chief, TSD
SUBJECT
Incinerator for
1. It is understood that the TSD Engineering Branch is
having ten improved models of the TSD developed security incin-
erator built for the Office of Security for test and evaluation at
overseas posts.
2. At the present time, is obliged to utilize
an exterior incinerator located at
some distance from their buildings. This requires the transpor-
tation of c terials to the incinerator and the continued
presence of employee at the location until the material
has been reduced to secure ash. Since the sale of the major
portion of the base, with the requirement of a public road between
and the remainder of the base to allow access to the
portion of the base now in civilian hands, there will, in addition,
be the necessity of transporting bags of classified materials across
this public thoroughfare.
3. The security of the present arrangement has always
left much to be desired, and with the completion of the above-
mentioned public road in front of the buildings, the situ-
ation will be considerably worse. An incinerator of the general
type now installed in the TSD Security Office for evaluation would
solve a major part of the c fied trash disposal problem,
and the installation of one of these a is recommended by
the TSD Security Officer. The 'improved' model is most desirable
since it will have a reinforced air flow into the flame. Engineering
Branch indicates that they could as easily order eleven of these
incinerators for evaluation as the ten presently planned, and that,
in addition, it would reduce the individual cost of the units to TSD.
