No. 309. 2. The design of the destructor is nearly finalized except for a few minor changes such as the handle and friction in the rotating parts.' Five units will be available for safety testing the week of 16 Sept.'57 and about four weeks after that, 15 units will be delivered to us. The safety ttets will show whether or not accidental initiation of the de- tonators will set off the booster charge when in the safe position. 3. Tees, couplings, unions, and end caps made of nylon have been fabricated and subjected to limited tests. These fittings are to connect lengths of primacord with various pieces of equipment and all connections are made by screwing the connectors together finger tight. Additional environmental and vibration testing will be performed in the near future. To allow a neater installation, the above fittings will be supplemented by elbows and double tees. The elbows should be especially useful when a sharp bend in the primacord is required. 4. Upon receipt of the destructor initiators, a complete mock-up of the targets will be laid out with priascord and explosives in the same configuration as will.be found in ~aircraft.
