The estimated normal cost of the system Is 12.28 percent of payroll, exclusive of Part III of Public Law 87-793, which, if considered, would in- crease this figure by 022 percent of payroll. The foregoing figures reflect a revision from 3 percent to 31/2 percent in the assumed average interest earnings rate for purposes of actuarial valuation, as of June 30,1906. od peAwddv CD CD CD a a 0 Co cb 4=k J31,E C-2.-Employee annuitants added to the retirement rollk_aring the fiscal years 1921 to 1963, by provision under which rlired, and< number on the roll June 30, 1963, by fiscal year retired Fiscal year ended Tune 30- Number on roll Tune 30, 1963 Number added to roll, by provision under which retired Total Mandatory, 15 years' service Disa- bility Optional 5 years' service, voluntary and involuntary Involuntary-years' service Mem- hers of Con- gess Trans (erred from other us- terns 30 years' service Age 62-years' service 20 years' service age 50 Age 62 Age 70 Age 55 Age GO 12-29 15-29 15 20 25 30 1921-30 114 27, 759 20,897 6,862 1931 97 6,570 3,888 1,476 997 209 1932 110 4,997 2,445 1,725 666 161 1933 279 9,480 6,295 2,066 892 227 1934_ 1,280 14,477 2,770 2,105 2,652 470 7,080 1935 682 6,864 2,410 1,879 515 255 1,805 1936 566 5, 783 2,442 2,012 446 164 719 1937 556 5,481 2,117 2,254 554 154 2 1938 628 6, 153 2,958 2,388 648 156 3 1939 697 5, 796 2,806 2, 144 732 114 1940 868 7,267 4,244 2,227 707 89 1941 1,305 8, 197 4,348 2,817 891 140 1 1942 1,415 7,474 3,049 3,632 41 1,359 292 5 96 1943 2,234 9,643 1,216 2,961 307 2,966 1,746 422 25 1944 2,767 9,983 956 3,348 287 2,797 1,810 758 26 1 1945 3,889 12,313 1,011 3,923 402 3,509 2,338 1,122 8 1946 5,118 15,965 1,659 5,012 367 3,425 2,599 2,998 3 1 1947 8, 269 22,059 1,776 6,721 362 2,512 2, 138 7,991 7 480 1 27 1948 8,695 21,303 1,742 6,083 480 2,919 2,065 1 7,653 5 370 3 12 1949 9,913 22,576 2,431 6,634 1,240 4,826 2,128 80 4,879 11 292 23 32 1950 11,315 24,917 50 2,168 6,709 1,122 4,390 2,322 143 5,918 4 736 6 1,349 1951 11,081 20,947 38 2,151 5,853 1,306 4,865- 2,283 216 3,838 3 371 18 5 Imme- De- diate (erred 1952 11,081 19,695 33 2, 179 5,685 1,354 4,109 2,357 221 1,852 1,607 4 279 5 10 1953 14,619 24,518 39 2,374 7, 160 1,585 5,258 3,249 259 2,474 1,830 2 258 29 1 1954 18,489 28,839 24 2,290 8,090 1,794 6,224 3,835 274 3,385 2,310 4 596 10 3 1955 19,643 28,997 30 3,462 - 8, 244 1,659 5,897 4,240 356 3,052 2,691 4 335 17 10 1956 23,943 33,090 35 2,392 9,161 2,053 7,649 5,615 319 2,547 3,044 1 260 4 10 1957 34,039 44,296 31 3,236 11,653 4,275 11,116 6,910 258 3,008 3,447 1 102 230 24 5 1958 41,661 51,840 38 4,146 16,802 4,154 5,741 8,490 212 4,389 3,899 454 506 4 5 1959 37,254 44,514 41 4,440 14,553 2,826 6,364 8,077 227 3,105 3,932 1 439 443 55 11 1960 39,363 45,161 42 4,094 15,477 2,583 5,868 6,517 3,126 224 2,521 3,831 436 421 4 17 1961 45,319 50,228 34 4,056 16,501 3,136 7,358 11,520 27 337 1,803 4,077 1 656 680 31 11 1962 47,158 50524 52 4,075 16,737 2,980 6,780 12,093 18 369 1,998 4,112 655 643 7 5 1963 48,232 49,666 57 4,271 15,439 3,006 6,575 13,367 4 438 1,202 3,997 776 486 38 10 Total 452,099 747,372 544 116, 194 225,733 37,319 124,247 43,497 65,660 3,934 105,581 2,345 3,518 7,386 9,613 305 1,496 TABLE C-3.-Employee annuitants added to the retirement roll during the fiscal year ended June 30, 1963 Provision under which retired Number added to the roll Total annuities (monthly) Type of annuity Average survivor annuity (monthly) Average contri- butions Average age in 1963 Average service (years) Number with Fed eral em- ployees' group life insur- ance Total Men Women Amount Average Life only Life, plus survi- vor annuity Widows or widowers Other RETIRED UNDER PROVISIONS IN EFFECT PRIOR TO AMENDMENTS BY PUBLIC LAW 854 Disability 4 2 2 $205 $51 3 1 $19 $878 44.2 9.8 Optional, 30 years' service, age 55_____ I 1 169 169 1 3,170 68.0 31.0 Optional, 30 years' service, age 60 3 3 239 80 1 2 34 135 78.3 30.7 Optional, 15-29 years' service, age 62__ 3 3 269 90 2 1 44 66 76.7 19.3 5 years' service, immediate annuity__ 30 25 5 1, 513 50 30 789 74.8 9.6 5 years' service, deferred annuity 3, 055 2,099 956 154,681 51 3,055 1,284 63.5 12.0 Involuntary, 25 years' service 5 4 1 709 142 4 1 80 1,941 65.0 29.0 Members of Congress 5 4 1 925 185 1 3 1 121 8,488 62.2 7.6 Transferred from other systems 10 9 1 455 46 10 2,492 62.3 10. 1 Total 3, 116 2,150 966 159, 165 51 3, 107 8 1 77 1, 293 63.6 12.0 RETIRED UNDER PROVISIONS AS AMENDED BY PUBLIC LAW 854 Mandatory, 15 years' service, age 62_ _ 57 48 9 $17, 789 $312 14 42 1 $173 $8, 366 63.0 22.6 56 '..
