Thia chart shown the average nwmber of days It takes to clear an
applicant from the day his PHS is received in the Office of Security to the
day his clearance is issued.
The time I. roughly divided, US in investigations and 23% in
research and appraisal. The latter operations have remained fairly
constant through the years, averaging about Z0 days. The investigative
time naturally fluctuates to a greater extent, ranging approximately from
40 to 80 days and averaging roughly about 60 days.
