Manufacturer's response to GPO's
request for proposal of new high-speed
photocomposing machine was discussed.

inspected two new "company confidential
tape producing typewriter machines soon
to be marketed by IBM. Both machines
are expected to find application in
providing machine language in future
customer tape programs.
Device is completed and debugging
will start on 12. August 1963.
This is a result of verbal informatio
that the Office of Computer Services
study on feasibility of computerized
typesetting for NIS production has
shown it is not feasible to use Agency
computers for this task although experi-
mental work will be done for other Agen y
printing jobs. will be
contacted regarding development of the 25X1A5a
detailed plans and the hardware. This
project will require a substantial sum
of R & D funds not available in current
PSD budget.
